Last call

Dear Members,

According to the decision taken at our annual meeting held on November 28, 2000 this is now the last call for your participation to keep our Montreal Chapter alive. All Chapter executives have requested to retire after some years of service and no one wants to take over. Considering this situation, the following options have been decided :

  1. A group of at least two persons team up to take over the leadership of the Montreal Chapter. This group gets in contact with the actual President before April 30, 2001 with a plan to maintain the chapter. On the international side, SRE is getting more active with the annual publication of Lambda notes and the participation to conferences on reliability. Or
  2. The Montreal Chapter is put out of service. The money left in the bank is given to official charitable oganizations in the Montreal region. Centraide is the first choice and Polytechnic Foundation because of our mission related to the development of applied sciences in reliability.

This information is sent to all active members as well as past members going back to 1997 as long as we have their address. Up to the publication of this bulletin, no team have contacted me. If outcome number 1 does not materialize, then solution number 2 will be applied in May or June 2001.

Personnaly, my interest in reliability has declined since I have reoriented my carrer in SAP software implementation for maintenance activities and for materials management. Nevetheless, I can assure any potential team of my full support, mainly to maintain our web site.

I have been motivated by professional development during these years of service and it has been a pleasure to know you.
