Essential Responsibilities:

The Executive Director of Reliability Engineering and Maintenance reports to the Vice President of Vaccine & Sterile Operations. The position is responsible for the design, implementation, and on-going operations of the site’s Reliability Engineering program as well as directing maintenance activities including cGMP compliance, good engineering practices, application of uniform standards and specifications, compliance with regulatory requirements, cost control and schedule programs. This person will drive preventive and predictive maintenance to increase reliability and improve plant performance.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of at least ten years experience in leadership roles responsible for engineering and maintenance in a cGMP environment. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate what she/he has learned in situations of duress, crises and/or change with technical experience in leading edge engineering and maintenance techniques in order to develop the organization, people and processes. This person must have strong operational capability with an ability to inspire a group of over 300 combined engineers and union employees.

Description

The St. Jude Medical Reliability Engineer takes a hands-on approach to identifying system opportunities for improvement and providing insight to manage the corresponding risks. The successful candidate practically applies, and effectively communicates, knowledge of Reliability Engineering for both R&D activity and current product support. We're looking for someone to create / gather data to characterize expected product life, choose and perform the best analysis from a broad menu of methods, and drive performance improvement through precise and compelling communications.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain testing to determine expected life for implantable and external medical devices
  • Participate in, and eventually lead, FRACAS meetings
  • Work with Marketing, R&D, and Quality groups to determine product performance Action Limits
  • Support Reliability Characterization and Growth activities

Qualifications:

Title:Reliability Engineer

Scope of Position

The Reliability Engineer for AB Sciex will be the technical lead for Design for Reliability for our World Class leading Mass Spectrometry business, working with and advising our R&D functions. The primary objectives of this role will be:

  • Ingraining Reliability analysis as a business strategy. Work with organization to develop a “design for reliability” culture across the PDV, MFG & GSC value streams. This will involve developing test programs that are suitable for the product & the market, working with the organization to ensure that the capabilities and capacities exist to support these programs (does not have to be in-house/on site), and working with the respective value streams to make the results.
  • Reliability analysis stewardship on post-launch products. Emphasis on data gathering & statistical analysis of field failures, production failures, yield issues from key vendors, and working with product development to bring these yields down.
  • Reliability analysis stewardship on new products. Work with PDV to design/develop/deploy reliability enhancement programs on all new projects. This may involve assurance of adequate sub-system & system development testing where necessary as a “reliability steward”. Overall approach is to drive better correlation between analysis/simulation and system/sub-system performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Reliability engineering program, including creation of reliability specifications and targets, implementation of reliability modeling techniques and tools, the creation of reliability test methods and acquiring the appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts to recommend design or test methods for attaining reliability targets.
  • Advises and confers with engineers in design review meetings to give reliability findings and recommendations
  • Assists Field and/or Development teams with statistical analyses of product issues
  • Monitors data from Field Reports, Installation Reports and Warranty reports

Qualifications:

  • BS in EE or Physical Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years related work experience with 5 years experience in Reliability Role
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)
  • Demonstrated competence in program plan development and execution life/stress testing for electro-mechanical-based products, preferably for highly complex, low volume mfg products
  • Demonstrated experience within a product realization and post-launch –support environment targeting complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving & facilitation skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high reliability products to the customer

    • Collaborate with R&D on Failure Analysis on products in development to assist in root cause analysis and record information into a failure analysis database.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Minimum of five to eight years experience with a BS degree and three to six years experience with a Masters degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in Reliability Engineering.
    • Medical Device Industry Experience Required
    • Experience with reliability testing for electro mechanical devices and plastics.

The R&M manager will lead assigned, loan and contingent labor resources and have responsibility, authority and accountability (RAA) for the cost, schedule and technical performance of Chinook and developmental program contract requirements. The candidate will lead the R&M team in the use of existing tools and processes, incorporating new and emerging processes and technologies as they are shown to be efficient and applicable.     Qualifications:

    Preferred candidate shall have Chinook or other relevant aviation product knowledge, demonstrated technical knowledge of R&M tools and processes as evidenced by authoring of related analysis and deliverables.     • Assisting in the evaluation of customer qualification/certification requirements for full compliance and acceptance to aircraft industry standards.
    • Interfacing with engineering at early stages of design in order to incorporate customer needs and requirements into initial prototype.

    • Preparing all support testing equipment needed for the completion witnessing and full laboratory support of testing.
    • Review reports from labs to ensure needs of customers are met.
    • Developing test plans/procedures needed to carry out the qualification and certification of product to customers and FAA.
    • Overseeing testing and scheduled to track and report on qualification progress and estimated time of completion.
    • Evaluating testing requirements and assist in troubleshooting, evaluation and corrective action of any test failures. Work with Design Engineers to mitigate qualification risks during development phase of product.
    • Generation of all support testing documentation for the completion and certification to FAA standards.

    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-7 years of industry experience.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Must have experience with qualification/certification
    • Experience with Electromagnetic Emissions, Electromagnetic Interference, environmental testing, failure test analysis is preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Excellent presentation skills. Must be able to interface with customers and engineering staff including overseeing the qualification testing of products to customer requirements.
    • Must be able to travel 20% both domestic and internationally.
