Description

The Reliability Engineer works in a multidisciplinary environment (design, GaAs and Si process, wafer fabrication, semiconductor packaging/assembly) and will be responsible for the development and execution of product, process and package qualification strategies. Such tasks will be performed with the assistance of the reliability program manager and technicians.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understand and evaluate the product or test vehicle to qualify the process or package.
  • Based on the process or package, identify the stress testing required to establish the lifetime of the process and develop new acceleration techniques and analytical tools to ensure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging and processes.
  • Periodically monitor the interim qualification results and work closely with the FA to understand the failure (if any).
  • Analyze the failures against the stress objective and prepare a justification either to pass or fail the qualification.
  • Demonstrate strength in technical and analytical problem solving.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • 5 or more years experience as a Reliability, Product, or Process Engineer, preferably in a semiconductor company.
  • Solid knowledge in semiconductor device physics, electronics, and circuit analysis. Knowledge of reliability science and microwave engineering related to GaAs IC devices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in comprehensive numerical and graphical data analysis using software tools.
  • Proficient with MS Office, particularly with MS Excel software. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Utilizes a proactive approach/demonstrates persistency.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with individuals at all levels of the business and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Ability to gain support of all stakeholders and ability to influence without direct authority.

Under general direction of Compliance & Audit management, the Compliance Specialist has the responsibility and authority to lead activities to investigate and understand high level product quality issues and quality management system (QMS) compliance issues, lead activities for understanding root cause of said issues, lead activities to determine applicable corrective and preventive action(s) (CAPA), identification of actions to verify or validation CAPA effectiveness, and to document these activities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for determination of a Quality Council and/or Quality Board for high level product quality issues stemming from customer complaints or internally discovered.
  • Responsibility for documenting Quality Council and Quality Board events using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Check) process and form. Responsibility for ensuring timely (within 30 days of the issue discovery) documentation and completion of the DMAIC form.
  • Responsibility for working with applicable QMS process owners related audit findings, non-compliances, or opportunities for improvement (OFIs) to investigate and understand the noted audit issues, for understanding root cause of said issues, to determine applicable corrective and preventive action(s) (CAPA), identification of actions to verify or validation CAPA effectiveness, and to document these activities via the DMAIC form.
  • Lead kaizens as deemed appropriate or when requested for the completion of audit related issues.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in the DMAIC process, identification to true root cause, identification of applicable and holistic CAPA and appropriate CAPA effectiveness utilizing Risk Management practices.

Qualifications:

Medical Device Industry Experience Required

  • Seasoned and expert experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical (FDA regulated) industry relating to regulatory compliance expectations relating to problem investigation, root cause analysis and CAPA identification and effectiveness verification or validation.
  • Quality system experience to FDA and other regulatory requirements (i.e. 21 CFR 820, 803, 806, 814, ISO 13485, European Medical Device Directive, CMDCAS, PAL/Japan GMP, and relevant standards, etc).
  • Experience in leading projects and/or task teams in quality, regulatory & clinical arenas.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills and ability to cultivate positive relationships with co-workers in a cross functional and cross facility environment.

Prevent equipment and utility failures in the plant through the development and implementation of preventive maintenance systems and procedures. Essential to the position is assessing and monitoring process equipment for the reliability of operation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Apply the concepts of precision maintenance to ensure the equipment is designed, repaired, balanced and aligned to strictly enforce standards before being placed in service.
  • Develop and ensure preventive maintenance systems and procedures are in place and are followed. Prepare discipline-specific preventive maintenance documentation.

  • Develop back-up plans for vulnerable systems and equipment (chillers, boilers, condensers, etc).

  • Ensure critical spare parts are on hand and determine replacement schedule to avoid end-of-life failure between turnarounds.

  • Supervise and direct mechanical/construction contractors and employees on maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate and plan all plant wide shutdowns for maintenance.
  • Maintain and develop new key performance indicators.
  • Review vendor equipment repair jobs, including quality control and performance.
  • Act as a resource to assist in equipment troubleshooting and failures with the goal of minimizing or eliminating equipment downtime. Conduct root cause analysis, generate reports, action logs and follow up in their closure.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years experience in reliability and maintenance.
  • Manufacturing industry experience in a medium to large setting required.
  • Experience in implementing reliability centered maintenance (RCM) practices.
  • In depth knowledge of heating, condensers, motors, pumps, valves, tanks, air conditioning systems, electrical systems, welding, instrumentation, fire protection, roofing systems and equipment repair.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to be successful in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment. Ability to achieve results through others.
  • Availability for weekends and nights, if needed. Willingness to work extended hours, particularly during scheduled outages.
  • Experience in working in a team and lending support to other manufacturing activities.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles and concepts.
  • Basic computer knowledge including MS Office, experience with maintenance software, AutoCAD and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis.

The Reliability Group is growing and is an active and close partner with design and manufacturing departments. The Reliability Specialist is a key component of this team, by providing in-depth knowledge and practical application of reliability techniques that help prevent, remove or reduce the risk of field failure. This spans analysis of conceptual and early prototype design, developmental testing, product qualification and in-service monitoring. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Master’s degree or equivalent knowledge in Reliability Engineering
  • Proficiency and theoretical knowledge in reliability analysis methods (e.g. Physics of failure, FMEA, Fault Tree)
  • Proficiency and theoretical knowledge of reliability life testing procedures (e.g. HALT; vibration; shock; thermal cycling)
  • Proficiency and theoretical knowledge of data analysis (e.g. Weibull)

Jones Lang LaSalle is currently seeking a Senior Reliability Maintenance Engineer to join our office located in La Jolla, CA. This position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for providing engineering support for planning, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings and utilities, developing and implementing programmatic methods to ensure safe operation and high equipment reliability/availability, cost effective maintenance, continuous improvement culture, and regulatory compliance. In addition, this individual will be responsible for applying efficient end use technologies to lighting, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, utility, process, and power systems with the goal of reducing operating costs. This includes integrating systems, applying predictive technologies when appropriate, while optimizing a system's operational performance, life cycle cost, and payback.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be responsible for the execution of reliability excellence/maintenance program.
  • Write and maintain reliability maintenance strategy documents.
  • Identify and implement predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Manage predictive maintenance equipment.
  • Responsible for ranking the criticality of the assets under their care, typically using Reliability Centered Maintenance approaches, and for defining the proactive maintenance approaches that is cost-beneficial to the business.
  • Administer programs such as Thermography, vibration analysis, lube oil monitoring, for the site and regionally. Administration may include vendor selection, program scooping/scheduling, analysis review, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Perform/support operational event and equipment failure investigations to ensure that the root cause/causal factors have been identified, corrective actions prescribed, and follow-up monitoring conducted as applicable, to determine effectiveness.
  • Conduct program and system/equipment audits on a periodic and as needed basis; Audits will generally be focused on safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance effectiveness, cost savings, and energy conservation.
  • Participate in the planning, design review, value management and construction document development of new facilities and renovations.
  • Support utility distribution, master planning, and business continuity planning.
  • Perform life-cycle financial modeling of developed technical solutions.
  • Construct detailed technical proposals and draft bid documents.
  • Support commissioning activities for all upgrade, renovation, and construction projects which may include, but is not limited to, PM job plans, reviews for maintainability, critical spares, documentation, etc.
  • Develop and maintain new "Key Performance Indicators" of equipment reliability. Examples of KPIs are:
    • Overtime worked against plan
    • PM schedule compliance
    • Response Time for Demand Work Orders
    • Budget compliance
    • PM Backlog man-hours
    • Critical Equipment availability
    • Number of breakdowns (Unplanned maintenance)
    • Production equipment performance (By output volume levels)
    • Equipment performance (with respect to quality)
    • Mean Time between Failure

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from accredited Institution in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or appropriate scientific discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Plant Engineer or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional.
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience, including experience with mechanical design/testing, international quality standards, FDA regulated industry and rotating equipment.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years utility systems/management and/or facilities/plant management and maintenance in Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience w/predictive maintenance technologies including, but not limited to, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared Thermography, ultra sound and motor current analysis.
  • Experience w/ Root Cause Failure Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or Failure Modes and Effects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles applied to design, operation and maintenance of building structures and mechanical and electrical equipment for buildings.
  • Has an excellent working knowledge of the facilities maintenance subject area, knowledge of the workforce and supplier capabilities as well as an awareness of progressive developments within the industry.
